Born and raised on a family owned Montana ranch, Steven developed an early appreciation for big country, working lands, and the people whose livelihoods depend on them.

Steven has broad experience in conservation, development, advocacy, and public policy, building a career dedicated to protecting the land and water we all depend on. Through his work with The Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), he has connected people, resources, and strategy to advance lasting, place based conservation outcomes.

As Chief External Relations Officer for the Western Landowners Alliance, Steven leads organizational strategy integrating philanthropy, communications, and external engagement. He values the opportunity to partner with others who share a commitment to stewardship, strengthening communities, and sustaining the landscapes that define the American West.

With a tendency to dive in with gusto, Steven can often be found fly fishing, mountain running, or training bird dogs, frequently on the heels of his wife and two teenagers. He calls Bozeman, Montana home.
