Girija Kulkarni

Communications and Media Manager

Girija Kulkarni supports communications for the Western Landowners Alliance, where she focuses on elevating  landowners’ stories, voices, and stewardship across the West. She is driven by a deep belief that the people who live and work on the land are essential partners in conservation, and that storytelling can play a powerful role in advancing solutions that sustain both working lands and wildlife.

Girija brings a background in conservation and agricultural resilience, most recently serving as an Additive Conservation Manager with the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust (CCALT). There, she worked alongside landowners to implement projects that enhance grassland health, improve soil sustainability, and support the long-term viability of agricultural operations. Her experience spans stakeholder engagement, program development, and translating complex conservation work into narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

She holds a background in environmental science, with a BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and an MS in Environmental Science with an emphasis in policy and ecosystems, both from the University of Colorado. Girija lives in Colorado, where she enjoys spending time with her two rescue dogs, wrangling horses, and doing anything that gets her outside and connected to the landscapes and communities she works to support.
