Set against the breathtaking landscape of Vermejo, a 558,000-acre reserve in northern New Mexico, PRESERVED tells the remarkable story of one of the largest restoration efforts in the American West.

Once heavily impacted by mining, overgrazing, and the loss of native species, Vermejo has become a living example of what is possible when people make the decision to restore landscapes.

Filmed over more than 130 days, PRESERVED follows the scientists, land managers, conservationists, and wildlife at the center of that transformation—from the return of native trout and restoration of streams to bison, beavers, bears, and mountain lions.

The result is something increasingly rare: a film about the environment that leaves you hopeful.
