About PT Ranch Circle
At Women in Ranching, we connect and support, educate and inspire a growing and resilient network of women in agriculture. If you want to join our community on this journey, gathering at a Circle is a great way to start.
Emily Taylor is a gifted hostess and we are honored to be working with her team to bring you all into Circle together, for the first time, on the PT Ranch!
We are partnering up with Women in Ranching guides Beth Godbey and Cheri Trousil to grow our courage living into our most deeply held purpose and passion, within a supportive community and with horses as our partners. We will spend time out on the land with Emily learning about stewardship at the PT Ranch and what changes they’ve been making over the last few years. We are excited to offer for the first time a ½ day, hands-on lamb butchery workshop, to be followed by fresh lamb burgers on the grill. And Women in Ranching is always known for surprises: music, soil health discussions, nourishing physical work, incredible conversation with inspiring women, you won’t want to miss it!
In her words
Growing up riding and working cattle on the ranch had awakened in me a persistent, itching nostalgia for old-world cattle ranching that did not wane as I grew older, married Ned, had children and became an interior designer in San Francisco. The steep learning curve associated with ranching has proven to me and Ned, a Silicon Valley man, to be an ever-deepening mystery. Who thought you might buy a livestock guard dog only to discover his propensity to chew on sheep’s ears? Or that Longhorn cattle, whose horns are wonderfully decorative, are really quite intimidating when you attempt to move them from field to field? The humbling reality of starting a ranching operation has not thwarted our ambition to bring new life to old ranching traditions, but rather, an unfamiliar and welcome challenge.Emily Taylor
