FUTURE ISSUES COMING YOUR WAY!
On Land - The Voice of Stewardship in the American West
If we are to recover the American West to health and abundance, we need a new story about our relationship to land, rooted in an ethic of stewardship. On Land brings forth that story clearly and beautifully, in the voices of the people who are living it, at the leading edge of a future that puts people and nature together again for the benefit of both. Please keep your address current. If you enjoy the magazine, we would appreciate a donation to support our storytelling.

The Working Wild Challenge
Thriving ranches and thriving wildlife.
Working Wild Challenge
We recognize the challenge of ranching with wildlife, and facilitate constructive dialogue between wildlife managers and working lands stewards to solve problems—through peer learning, public policy, and better access to technical and financial assistance. Our approach leads to stronger partnerships, more resilient ranches, and ultimately, better-connected landscapes.
Water in the West
The most vital resource we have.
Water in the West
We provide landowners with the information, policy support and resources they need to be the best stewards of our precious water resources possible. From protecting property rights to ensuring federal conservation funding reaches the ground, and from beaver analogues to remote irrigation management, we're driving landowner-led water management forward.
Protecting the Economics of Working Lands
Stewardship has to pencil
Paying for stewardship
We understand firsthand how expensive it is to take good care of the land. We're working to defend the ways land can generate income to pay for that stewardship, including hunting tags, access control, and agriculture. We're also pioneering new ways for landowners to get paid for stewardship, like habitat leasing and climate-smart ranching.
