LOCATION: De Beque, CO

REPORTS TO: Livestock & Agriculture Manager

The High Lonesome Ranch (Ranch) is seeking to hire an Irrigator with proven, demonstratable abilities to manage irrigation across several hundred acres, conduct repairs on irrigation infrastructure, and maintain irrigation ditches.

Role & Responsibilities

The irrigator will be responsible for managing irrigation across several fields and irrigation types. Irrigation types include wheel line (side rolls), guns, and flood irrigation. Each field and water source will have its own irrigation schedule that the irrigator will be responsible for implementing. Irrigator will conduct basic maintenance on irrigation infrastructure and will be responsible for identifying problems that require assistance from other ranch staff or appropriate 3rd party contractors. The irrigator will maintain ditches, including repairs and regular cleaning, for these tasks the irrigator will have access to a skid steer, back hoe, and bulldozer. Irrigator will coordinate with the Livestock and Agriculture Manager to direct contractors, oversee work, and schedule hay cutting.

Qualifications

– Experience irrigating across one or more of the irrigation types on the ranch.

– Experience operating a skid steer and back hoe in a professional setting, experience operating a dozer is preferred.

– Experience maintaining small engines and repairing PVC pipe is preferred.

Compensation

Position Type: Fulltime Non-exempt

Hourly: $15-19 based on experience and qualifications
