Job Title: On-Site Goat Shepherd – Targeted Grazing Specialist
Location: Sentinel Mountain – Tucson, Arizona
Job Type: Full-time (6 month contract), On-site
Rocking AR Goats is a leading provider of sustainable land management solutions, specializing in targeted grazing using goat herds. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an On-Site Goat Herd Shepherd and Targeted Grazing Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for living on-site and overseeing a herd of goats engaged in targeted grazing projects.
Herd Management: Monitor and manage the health, well-being, and behavior of the goat herd.
Targeted Grazing Operations: Coordinate and implement targeted grazing plans in collaboration with land management experts.
Site Security: Ensure the safety and security of the goats by managing fencing, monitoring for predators, and addressing any potential risks.
Daily Operations: Maintain husbandry equipment, monitor animal health, maintain accurate records, and report any issues or concerns promptly. The individual will also be responsible for moving the herd and any required equipment as the sites are treated.
Communication: Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other team members to provide regular updates on the herd’s progress and address any inquiries.
Requirements: The selected candidate will be expected to live on site through the duration of the project. Housing will be provided.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience: Previous experience in livestock management, preferably with goats, is highly desirable.
Passion for Conservation: A genuine interest in sustainable land management and conservation practices.
Physical Fitness: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to identify and address potential challenges in a timely and efficient manner.
Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
