Grazing and Livestock Ranch Foreman

SnapLands LLC seeks a grazing manager this year to oversee the award-winning Roberts Ranch, a legacy ranch with a leading working cattle operation. This position will work with the SnapLands team and partners to oversee 13,000 acres of short-midgrass prairie in the foothills near Livermore, CO.

This position will implement adaptive grazing management supported by years of servicing industry leading rangeland monitoring and land restoration strategies with the ranch management team. This position will be open until filled.

START DATE: May 2024 (flexible)
END DATE: November 2024
BENEFITS: Salary $2,5000 – $4,500/month + DOE (Housing and utilities may be available)
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Understanding of, and desire to implement, planned grazing practices (adaptive grazing management, decision-making, etc.)
•Two years livestock handling experience, including sorting cattle, identifying and treating sick animals, and other livestock-related tasks
• Experience with infrastructure, including fencing and stock water systems
• Current driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to regularly lift 50 lbs.
• Able to work long days outdoors in adverse weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, etc.)
RESPONSIBILITIES
GRAZING AND FORAGE MANAGEMENT
• Participate in the creation and implementation of the Ranch’s grazing plan
• Utilize electric fencing and other technologies to optimize animal and land performance
• Supplement livestock as needed to achieve production goals
• Repair infrastructure as needed
LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT
• Maintaining strong herd health by identifying sickness issues and treating animals
• Implementing the Ranch’s herd health program (e.g., mineral, supplementation, vaccinations)
• Participate in livestock working events (e.g., branding, weaning, pregnancy checking, sorting, etc.)
