The fifth webinar of WLA’s 2025 Water and Working Lands Stewardship Series will focus on the intersection of soil health, drought resiliency and water scarcity. How – and how much – does soil biology affect the productivity of your land through unpredictable cycles of drought and flood? What are practical, on-the-ground approaches to building soil health and increasing drought resiliency in arid environments? This panel discussion will explore the impacts of soil health on water retention and drought adaptation. Producers will share lessons learned about improving soil health on western rangelands, real barriers to increasing soil health, and specific adaptive management tools such as managed grazing, no-till farming and water-sparing crops and practices.  

Long-time producers and soil health experts share lessons learned – what worked, and what didn’t  – and discuss the outcomes of improved soil health on their land, water uses, economics and quality of life.
