Join Amber Feddes, Habitat Specialist for Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP), and the Western Landowners Alliance to learn more about Montana’s FWP Habitat Conservation Lease Program on October 31st from noon to one.
A habitat conservation lease is a voluntary, incentive-based agreement between FWP and private landowners in which the landowner commits to retaining wildlife habitat in exchange for a one-time per-acre fee for a 30 or 40-year lease. Lease values are based on 15% of fee value for a 30-year lease and 20% of fee value plus a 5% bonus for a 40-year lease. Prices range between $85-$1021/acre and vary depending upon habitat type.
