About Western Landowners Alliance (WLA): Founded in 2012 by landowners and managers, the organization aims to increase the wellbeing of working lands in the American West and the living communities, including human and wildlife, that depend on them.

Position Overview: We are looking for an Outreach and Membership Coordinator to join our team and help us build relationships with our target audiences. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for connecting with people and a strong understanding of how to effectively communicate with diverse groups. The Outreach and Membership Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and retaining members, planning and coordinating events, newsletters, social media and maintaining the organization’s CRM database.

Amount of Time & Status: 40 hours a week, exempt, Monday-Friday

Location: This position is remote with preference of residency in the American West near a major airport. Periodic travel will be required.

Reports to: Development Director

Compensation: $60,000 to $75,000. Salary is commensurate with experience. Western Landowners Alliance offers comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, parental leave, 403b retirement savings account, life insurance, and other benefits.

Duties/Responsibilities Include: 

  • In collaboration with other staff, develop and implement membership development and marketing strategy to grow WLA membership and donor base.
  • Initiate and develop key relationships with constituents.
  • Design and implement virtual and in-person events and activities, including conferences, webinars and field tours; prepare event itineraries and timelines, solicit event sponsors and exhibitors where appropriate, and coordinate logistics such as guests lists, invitations, registrations, speakers, agendas, materials, travel, accommodations, catering, follow-up and evaluation.
  • In collaboration with the development team, support identification, cultivation, and ongoing stewardship of donors.
  • Maintain a CRM database; generate reports, update records, enter gifts, etc.
  • Support development and distribution of external communications (e.g. newsletters).
  • Support development, distribution of member surveys to identify needs and interests.
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven ability to develop positive relationships and effectively communicate organizational activities both internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented, strong independent work ethic; and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Creative and positive approach to communication and problem solving
  • Willingness and ability to maintain confidential information and work with diverse populations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with virtual event and meeting platforms

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience required
  • Successful experience with non-profit membership development and donor relations
  • Demonstrated experience with customer relationship management software required
  • Experience with donor identification software is a plus
  • Successful experience with non-profit membership development and donor relations
  • Successful experience with event planning and implementation

Working Environment/Physical Activities: Work environment is an office and field setting. Physical activities include sitting at a desk and working on a keyboard and computer several hours a day; conducting business over the telephone and via email; standing for long periods of time; traveling long distances by vehicle (including traveling on unpaved roads). This position may also require moving materials up to 25 pounds. Other duties as assigned.
