Regenerative Ranch Hand
We are looking for a full-time summer ranch hand to assist with cattle and irrigation. We are a working cattle ranch in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley. We have a seasonal job opportunity for the implementation of regenerative ranching practices, applying holistic management principles, and working closely with the ranch manager to ensure ecological and economical outcomes.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the ranch manager to determine land area focus.
• Move cattle daily and build temporary fencing for adaptive grazing.
• Maintain detailed records (written and electronic) of all cattle and grazing activities.
• Monitor the implementation of the annual grazing plan.
• Mitigate soil erosion and barren soil areas.
• Participate in biological and ecological monitoring and documentation.
• Assist with irrigation maintenance.
• Repair permanent fencing as needed.
• Assist in identifying sick or injured cattle.
• Assist with hay production.
Requirements:
Positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
Demonstrated knowledge of regenerative agriculture practices.
Previous farm or ranch experience.
Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Mechanical skills are a plus.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience. Housing possibly available.
