DESCRIPTION:Western Landowners Alliance and Redwing Ranch invite you to join us for a field tour focused on fuels management and fire resilience on working lands. \nThis on-the-ground tour will highlight how Redwing Ranch plans for wildfire risk\, manages woody encroachment\, and implements stewardship practices that support both ecological health and agricultural operations. Participants will have the opportunity to see management strategies in action\, hear directly from land managers\, and engage in conversation with fellow landowners\, agency staff\, and conservation partners. \nWhether you’re actively managing land\, working in conservation\, or supporting landowners through technical or financial assistance programs\, this tour is designed to create space for shared learning and practical discussion rooted in real-world application. \nWe’ll also share more about Redwing’s hands-on programming and Western Landowners Alliance’s work to support land stewards across the West. \nDetails: \nThursday\, August 6\, 2026 \n9:00am – 1:00pm \nRedwing Ranch – Gardner\, CO \nThis will be a casual\, interactive day in the field. DESCRIPTION:About the event \n\n\n\nPart of the Redwing Core Curriculum\, Buckin’ Babes is a welcoming\, all-inclusive weekend for women and gender-expansive participants eager to develop land-based skills. Over the course of the workshop\, you’ll progress from saw basics to practical field work that connects technical skill with stewardship and fire resilience. \nDay 1 focuses on safety\, equipment setup\, and foundational cutting techniques. Day 2 builds toward real-world application—pile burning\, brush clearing\, felling\, and shaded-fuel-break projects on the ranch. \nParticipants will: \n\n\nUnderstand chainsaw function\, operation\, and safety protocols \n\n\nPractice cutting\, limbing\, and log-handling techniques \n\n\nLearn sharpening\, bar-oil\, fuel-mix\, and general maintenance routines \n\n\nGain an introduction to tree felling and on-site hazard assessment \n\n\nApply fuel-management principles: pile burning\, defensible-space layout\, and shaded-fuel-break design \n\n\nBuild lasting confidence through hands-on practice in real outdoor conditions \n\n\nWho This Is For \nThis workshop is open to women and gender-marginalized individuals of all experience levels—no prior chainsaw background required.
