DESCRIPTION:Please join us for High Country Rancher Days\, happening this August 28th and 29th  at La Dolce Vita Ranch and Badger Creek Ranch located near Guffey and Canon City\, CO (8\,000 to 10\,000 ft elevation). Funding for the event comes from Western SARE and Rangeland Living Laboratory with a small registration fee of $50 to cover meals.\n\nThere are unique challenges when it comes to ranching in the High Country. For those seeking to deepen their knowledge of ranching amidst these unique circumstances\, or who would like to build a support network and improve their ranch’s resiliency in the face of climate uncertainty\, this event is for you! Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced local ranchers\, topic experts such as CSU Extension Veterinarian\, Kathy Whitman\, and NRCS Agent\, Dixie Crowe\, as well as interns and apprentices from the host ranches. Key topics include the intersection of grazing planning\, soil health\, drought\, land monitoring\, and livestock health (mineral programs for regional soils/plants); local topics (trout conservation programs and/or range law and addressing conflict\, and hosting interns and apprentices.\n\nThis event will offer space for socializing and networking for ranchers as well as informative and relevant ranch tours led by the host ranchers (one of which is an instructor for CSU’s IN-RICHES soil health program).\n\nYou can register directly through this Google Form link (https://forms.gle/s4aVc5kw26s3abHP7) or also visit the Park County CSU Extension events page (https://extension.colostate.edu/park/events)\, which lists all the lodging options and also takes you to the registration link. DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE for the Fall Adaptive Grazing Workshop facilitated by the Southwest Montana Sagebrush Partnership.\n\nThe workshop will be held on October 14 & 15 in Dillon\, MT (field trip west of Twin Bridges\, MT).\n\nOctober 14 will be held at the University of Montana Western’s Lewis and Clark Room and will feature a line-up of great presenters including Dr. Clayton Marlow – Flexible Riparian Grazing Management\, Cooper Hibbard of Sieben Ranch – sharing his unique story into Adaptive Livestock Grazing\, a Rancher round table discussion including several of the ranchers piloting new tools and ideas in the Flexible Grazing Project and two additional impactful speakers that we are currently in communication with.  The venue for the presentations on October 14 will be the University of Montana-Western Lewis and Clark Room.\n\nOctober 15 will include a field trip to a BLM allotment west of Twin Bridges\, MT to show the change over time and discuss public land grazing and flexibility.  Speakers will include Dr. Jeff Mosley\, MSU\, Jaime Wood\, manager of Hamilton Ranch\, Dusty Crowe and Kelly Savage\, Assistant Field Manager and Rangeland Management Specialist for the BLM’s Dillon Field office.  Lunch will be provided both days.
