SUMMARY:Grassland CRP Informational Webinar
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nLease your land for habitat with Grassland CRP\, enrollment open through May 29th. \nThe USDA has opened enrollment for the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program (Grassland CRP)\, offering landowners an opportunity to receive annual payments for maintaining and improving working grasslands. Unlike traditional CRP\, Grassland CRP functions more like a habitat lease. Producers can graze and hay while maintaining grassland habitat for wildlife. The program can help generate supplemental income while supporting both agricultural productivity and conservation\, particularly for rangeland operations. \nWe’re hosting a webinar to walk through theprogram and how to apply\, rental rates\, and perspectives from agency staff and landowners who have experience in the program.

SUMMARY:The Economics and Natural Resource Benefits of Virtual Fencing in the Western US
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar produced by the United States Department of Agriculture’s research lab at the Jornada Experimental Range\, researchers will share insights from producer-focused surveys\, adoption studies\, and economic modeling of VF systems in the Southwest and Southern Plains. Speakers will discuss how ranch size\, herd size\, and producer preferences—such as precision grazing\, herd tracking\, and fencing alternatives—shape adoption decisions. The presentation will highlight the costs and benefits of VF relative to traditional fencing\, emphasizing practical break-even thresholds and producer tradeoffs. Speakers will also explore how VF can serve as a natural resource management tool in ecologically sensitive areas. Drawing on cattle–elk conflict simulation and AI decision-support systems\, researchers will demonstrate how VF can be paired with satellite imagery\, drone flights\, and AI grazing models to improve conservation outcomes.

SUMMARY:Webinar Supporting Vibrant Rural Communities through Place-Based Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Join the Montana Conflict Reduction Consortium (CRC) for a webinar on novel funding opportunities supporting communities managing wildlife-livestock conflicts and to engage with producers and practitioners developing community-led solutions to natural resource challenges.  \nThe Montana CRC\, convened by Western Landowners Alliance\, is a diverse\, landowner-led network of partners working to reduce wildlife-livestock conflicts and support working landscapes in Montana. This group is working to further community and place-based efforts that reduce wildlife conflicts and support the economic viability of rural communities in the State. \nPlace-based groups lift community needs\, while finding areas of agreement and shared purpose to meet a variety of resource challenges. Examples of these groups within Montana include the Madison Valley Ranchlands Group\, Big Hole Watershed Committee\, the Blackfoot Challenge\, and the Centennial Valley Association.  \nThese groups\, many of which are landowner and livestock producer-led\, may include all or part of a particular community and offer a way to meaningfully engage state and federal wildlife agencies\, non-profit organizations and other stakeholder groups to achieve community needs and  outcomes supporting working lands and wildlife.  \nWithin this webinar\, presenters and panelists will convey how these groups form\, focus conflicting ideas towards shared vision\, and move ideas to implementation.  \nThis will be paired with information on the Montana Community-Bear Conflict Prevention Efforts Fund fall opportunity\, of which place-based groups are eligible to apply. This funding opportunity is made possible through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation awarded to Montana Fish\, Wildlife & Parks\, in partnership with Heart of the Rockies Initiative. Requests for proposals will be made available in mid-to late-August\, prioritizing community-led projects that work to reduce grizzly bear conflicts.  \nWhether you’re a ranch manager\, landowner\, or conservation partner\, this is your chance to learn ways to support the resilience of communities throughout Montana and develop and fund projects addressing human-bear conflicts.  \n

Ask questions and hear from a panel of ranchers on different technologies available and what might be a best fit for you.* \n*Quivira Coalition and the Sustainable Ranching Initiative are not endorsing any specific technology. This is an educational opportunity to learn what technologies are available to consumers. \nYou’ll learn about how virtual fencing has been a major innovation for both conservation and flexible livestock management in the Northern Great Plains\, and leave with practical\, replicable action items for the lands you steward as a grazier.
