SUMMARY:Public Lands Grazing Reform: What’s Changing and Why It Matters for the West
DESCRIPTION:The 1934 Taylor Grazing Act was designed to support and manage domestic livestock production on public lands in a manner that sustains the land’s productive capacity and natural resource values. Since that time\, rangeland science and management have continued to evolve and improve. There is increasing recognition that in addition to meeting human resource needs and supporting rural livelihoods\, well-managed grazing plays an important role in sustaining grassland ecosystems\, open space and wildlife habitat. In many places around the West\, conflicts over grazing management are giving way to greater collaboration and partnership.   \nGrazing polices need to evolve\, too. The proposed new grazing rules would constitute the most significant change in federal grazing policy in decades.   \nAs a non-partisan\, landowner-led organization dedicated to conserving and caring for working lands for the benefit of people and wildlife\, WLA is hosting this webinar to share perspectives and insights among federal officials\, ranchers\, conservationists\, sportsmen\, etc. so everyone can better understand the rule and provide substantive comments to help inform the rule and implementation.  \nJoin us for an engaging conversation about these policy developments with: \n\nBrenda Younkin – Department of Interior Deputy Assistant Secretary\, Lands and Minerals\nGilbert Jackson – United States Forest Service Rangeland Management Program Manager\nLesli Allison – CEO\, Western Landowners Alliance\nLiz Munn – Resilient Public Lands Strategy Director\, The Nature Conservancy Nevada\nDavid Willms – Associate Vice President\, Public Lands\, National Wildlife Federation\nRobbie LeValley – Colorado Permittee\, Public Lands Council\nDuane Coombs – Nevada Permittee\nMarissa Taylor – Wyoming Permittee\n\nRegister today to join the discussion.
